WealthTech Scale-Up Support: Pre-Study & Proposal, Business Model & Go-to-Market Enablement

Belgian WealthTech focused on digital investment solutions for financial institutions in the EU

We supported an ambitious WealthTech scale-up in structuring and launching investment services aimed at EU banks. The assignment consisted of three complementary workstreams: (i) a pre-study and proposal for a micro-investment feature linked to card payments, (ii) the development of a forward-looking business model leveraging upcoming European regulations (Retail Investment Strategy (RIS) and Financial Data Access Regulation (FiDA)), and (iii) a pre-study and proposal, via a software partner to a private banking group, for a lean common flow for investor profiling (MiFID II).

Challenge

  • How to structure a compelling proposal for a retail micro-investment solution linked to card usage and position it as a strategic opportunity for a partner bank?
  • How to build a dynamic and scalable business model aligned with regulatory-driven innovation (RIS and FiDA)?
  • How to ensure stakeholder alignment and timely delivery of a proposed design for common flow for investor profiling (MiFID II) as part of a broader cross-border transformation project?

Approach

  •  Pre-study and feasibility proposal – Greek retail bank – card-linked micro-investments
    – Structured the feasibility workstream and supported proposal delivery
    – Introduced a project-based methodology to facilitate internal alignment
    – Co-created proposal content including visual infographics to clarify customer journeys and value flows
    – Participated in validation discussions and stakeholder reviews
  • Business model development and pitch deck – RIS/FiDA services
    – Designed a scalable business model aligned with the WealthTech’s core capabilities and regulatory momentum
    – Identified opportunities emerging from RIS and FiDA to position new offerings
    – Challenged and refined key assumptions through regular sparring with the leadership team
    – Delivered input for the go-to-market narrative and investor pitch materials
  • Consulting support – Investor Profile Questionnaire re-engineering
    – Light-touch support during pre-study workshops with a software partner and a multinational banking group
    – Captured key decisions and action points in a structured log
    – Maintained alignment through weekly review meetings
    – Contributed to the delivery of a clear, high-quality proposal to enable transition to the next project phase (functional analysis and build)

Impact

  • Enabled timely delivery of a structured and well-argued feasibility proposal for the card-linked micro-investment solution, paving the way for further partnership discussions with the Greek bank
  • Provided a solid and validated business model that enhanced strategic clarity and supported the WealthTech’s positioning in light of RIS and FiDA developments. Delivered as such key input for an investor pitch deck that was used in exploratory talks with partners and early-stage investors
  • Contributed to the successful completion of a lean and reusable investor profiling proposal for a multinational banking group, enabling the software partner to progress to the functional analysis phase with clear client alignment
